About Us:
Howkins & Harrison LLP have been supporting homeowners, landowners, and landlords since 1888. We are a highly regarded and successful property & lettings agent, as well as a firm of chartered surveyors, land agents, auctioneers and valuers and are proud to be experts in each of the areas that we cover.
We have 7 regional offices in the Midlands, and an office in London allowing us to work closely with clients with land & property interests throughout the Midlands & beyond.
About the Role:
We are looking to recruit Placement Students to join our teams in Rugby, Ashby de la Zouch, Atherstone and Towcester. While you will be based in one office, our work covers the entire Midlands region.
As part of our Rural team, you will gain hands-on experience across a wide variety of professional work, guided by experienced colleagues. Our clients range from individual property owners and buyers to national developers and investors, providing excellent exposure to a diverse mix of projects.
Typical work may include:
- Property Agency – marketing reports, take-ons, advertising, negotiations, sales chasing.
- Valuations – assisting valuers with Red Book valuations, inspections, and evidence gathering.
- RPA Schemes – dealing with SFI, mid-tier, capital grant, and other scheme applications.
- Management – assisting with the management of land under FBTs, GK agreements, and Contract Farming arrangements.
- Planning – supporting with the preparation and submission of planning applications.
- Compensation Claims – managing claims for crop loss or damage.
- Plans & Mapping – producing plans using The Land App.
- Comparables – maintaining and updating the company comparable database.
- Dispersal Sales – assisting with farm dispersal auctions, collective and fodder sales.
This list is not intended to be exhaustive and you will have other duties and responsibilities that fall within the remit of the role.
About You:
We’re looking for students who:
- Have strong interpersonal and networking skills.
- Are self-motivated, flexible, and eager to take on new challenges.
- Can manage time effectively and take responsibility for their workload.
- Possess sound analytical skills and good judgement.
- Hold a full, clean UK driving licence with access to their own transport.
- Are willing to embrace the local area and get involved in community activities.
