Description

How to Apply

Exmoor National Park is a unique and beautiful part of the country.

Our Heritage at Risk programme plays a vital role in protecting Exmoor's historic environment, identifying vulnerable heritage assets that are at risk through neglect, decay or inappropriate development.

We are now looking for a Heritage Projects Officer (Heritage at Risk) to join us on a fixed-term contract for 2.5 years. This is a full-time role, although part-time working will also be considered.

The Role

As a Heritage Projects Officer, you will develop and deliver our Heritage at Risk programme, helping to protect and conserve the historic environment of Exmoor.

You'll identify vulnerable heritage assets, co-ordinate repair and conservation projects, maintain accurate condition records and work with owners, partners and stakeholders to improve the long-term management of Exmoor's heritage.

Supporting the protection and promotion of the historic environment, you'll identify funding opportunities, contribute to new heritage designations and help make heritage information more accessible to the public.

You will aim to decrease the number of ‘at risk’ heritage assets, increase new heritage designated locations and historical assets, develop the understanding of the historic environment and ensure that all conservation areas are appropriately managed.

About You

To be considered as our Heritage Projects Officer, you will need:

- Experience in heritage management, project management, archaeological conservation or building repair
- A strong understanding of government heritage policies and statutory consents
- The ability to build effective working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders
- Good written communication skills
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office
- A degree in heritage conservation, archaeology, building conservation or a related discipline
