Description

How to Apply

Impact Volunteers Africa (IVA) is a South African organisation connecting international students and volunteers with structured, ethical conservation field placements across Southern Africa. We work with established host conservation organisations in South Africa, Namibia, Malawi and Mozambique. Our focus is on responsible, host-led conservation experiences that provide meaningful field exposure while supporting genuine conservation priorities. Website: impactvolunteersafrica.com.

The Role

Wildlife Conservation Field Placement. Students may gain practical experience in activities such as wildlife tracking and monitoring, species identification, behavioural observation, biodiversity surveys, camera trapping, GPS data collection, ecological fieldwork, habitat and reserve management, human-wildlife conflict mitigation and field data recording. Activities vary according to the selected placement, season, host priorities, weather, safety requirements and the student's experience. Placements are supervised by the host conservation organisation, with IVA providing application screening, placement matching, host liaison and pre-departure support. International students are welcome.

Requirements

Participants must meet the individual host organisation's requirements. Students are responsible for international flights, visas, appropriate travel/medical insurance and personal expenses. Placement approval for academic credit or compulsory placement requirements must be obtained from the student's university in advance.

This placement is unpaid and entirely self-funded.
