How to Apply

We have an opening for a placement or research student, short or long-term, at Lamport Hall, Northamptonshire. Our estate has approximately 3,000 acres of predominantly arable land, summarised below:

 1,500ac in-hand farming (arable); the remainder is let on three tenancies
 Portfolio of residential and commercial properties
 Investment portfolio managed by 3 London fund managers
 Educational bursary and support schemes with a number of institutions
 New CSS Higher-Tier scheme with substantial capital works
 Organic matter research plots
 Two natural flood management schemes, due to commence work shortly
 Restoration of three medieval ponds, with works commencing later in 2021
 Creation of new wetlands and water bodies
 Initiatives to measure, secure and sequester carbon
 A desire to establish up to 50ha new woodland
 Several development opportunities (between 1-10 units)
 A newly created in-hand shoot, with brand new infrastructure
 Discussions regarding large-scale solar opportunities
 Accommodation and salary provided, where appropriate

The Estate might suit someone who is interested in the applicability of conservation principles to farming practices, to demonstrate the compatibility of commercial land use with land stewardship. There is also an opportunity to become involved in the main house, events, diversification and general estate life, including the shoot and hunting.
