We are a leading mushroom harvester based in Zambia, committed to sourcing the highest quality mushrooms from all corners of the country. Our dedicated team works closely with mushroom pickers and buyers in remote areas, ensuring a sustainable and ethical supply chain.

Placement Overview

Dates: November 1st, 2024 – March 31st, 2025
Location: Various remote locations across Zambia
Stipend: Flights and accommodation costs paid, a vehicle will be provided and then $750 net pcm.
Experience: Gain hands-on experience working alongside mushroom pickers and buyers in the heart of Zambia's wilderness.

Accommodation: In the field, you will either staying in B&Bs or at campsites in a campervan unimog or an off road caravan. When back at our main site, accommodation will be provided.

Responsibilities

● Assisting with mushroom picking and quality control
● Facilitating interactions with local pickers and buyers
● Learning about mushroom cultivation and the supply chain
● Immersing yourself in rural Zambian culture and communities
● Contributing to Tente Mushrooms Ltd.'s sustainability efforts

Ideal Candidate

● Currently or recently enrolled in a relevant university program (agriculture, environmental science, business, etc.)
● Passionate about the environment and sustainable food systems
● Adaptable, resilient, and enjoys working outdoors
● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
● Willingness to travel and live in remote areas for extended periods
● Current Drivers Licence (C1 Licence desirable)
