How to Apply
We are looking for motivated, enthusiastic and creative individuals with the ability to inspire, so that our students have a memorable learning experience.
With your excellent subject knowledge and practical skills you will work collaboratively with our existing team of talented and passionate teachers to ensure we plan and deliver purposeful practical and theory lessons on our Level 2 and Level 3 programmes, and participate in the curriculum development to meet the needs of changing industry demands.
Merrist Wood College has a national and international reputation amongst employers and industry specialists and a long history of providing unrivalled education in the land-based sectors. You’ll get to work within a beautiful 420-acre estate of woodlands, wetlands, livestock, gardens and grasslands.
Whilst previous teaching experience and qualification would be an advantage, it is not a requirement. As long as you have the necessary qualifications and experience to teach machinery operation and habitat maintenance and can demonstrate the attributes to be an inspirational teacher, we can provide you with the necessary training, development and support to equip you to teach in the FE sector.
You will have a relevant qualification at Level 3 or higher in a relevant subject area, such as Arboriculture, Horticulture/Landscaping, Countryside Management, Agriculture, Ag Engineering, etc.
You must have extensive experience in the operation and maintenance of a range of landbased machinery, including both handheld and ride-on grounds maintenance equipment and have experience of organising and undertaking a wide range of practical habitat maintenance tasks.
Formal qualification in machinery operations such as NPTC, Lantra or NPORS would be desirable, but is not required.
