Do you have a passion for agriculture? Are you interested in economics, trade or the commercial environment in which farmers operate? Would you like the opportunity to really make a difference to NFU members? If yes, then the NFU’s Trade and Business Strategy Graduate Scheme is for you.

The NFU is the UK’s largest trade association representing farmers and growers across England and Wales. It is regarded as one of the most effective lobbying organisations in Europe, negotiating with governments and pressure groups at a local, national, European and international level.

You will have or predicted to have a 2:1 degree or above and have excellent team working, problem solving, communication and project management skills.  The desire to represent and help our members and to progress within the NFU is an essential requirement.

A degree in economics, business or trade, and a knowledge of the agricultural industry or a background in farming would be a distinct advantage.

You will be required to work in various locations throughout the UK and therefore a flexible approach to location is essential. Successful candidates will need their own dependable transport, as public transport is not frequently available to the beautiful Headquarters based in Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire

To aid the development of the NFU’s policy work on international trade, economics and farm business competitiveness.

Work at NFU HQ and other offices as required, alongside industry experts to deliver challenging projects across the NFU. These projects will be undertaken through the NFU’s Trade and Business Strategy department, and involve working with other teams across the NFU, in particular sector commodity teams such as arable, dairy, horticulture etc.

  • Liaison with NFU members (farmers and growers) including senior elected office holders and board members as part of the project
  • Develop your own networks, make presentations, and produce clear and succinct reports for a variety of audiences.
  • This job description will develop to meet the needs of the NFU, and any additional duties will be commensurate with the post holder’s grade.
