The Chatsworth Estate based near Bakewell in the Peak District are seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual looking for the next step in their estate management career. The successful candidate will join the existing estate management team in managing the Devonshire Group’s Derbyshire Estate.

Graduates looking to qualify as a Chartered Surveyor are ideally placed to apply for this role. The successful applicant will work alongside the existing Estate Management team managing land and property across the Devonshire Group's Derbyshire estate.

The Derbyshire Estate operates a property portfolio including land, properties, forestry, mineral and sporting rights. The successful applicant will join an existing team of three surveyors in managing 50 let farms, over 400 residential properties and a growing portfolio of commercial lets.   This provides a range of opportunities and experience for the successful candidate and with growing focus towards landscape scale land management and Natural Capital there are opportunities to be involved in a variety of projects.

The Team

The successful candidate will work from the Estate Office based near Bakewell and join a team of three Surveyors. They will work alongside teams specialising in forestry and farms, planning and development, residential lettings, GIS, game and nature conservation.

Over 800 people are employed on the Chatsworth Estate managing a busy and popular tourist attraction, events schedule and historic landscape. There will be opportunity to work alongside a variety of disciplines across the business including education, filming opportunities, event organisation and public access.

The Role

This role requires an individual who has excellent communication skills and can operate as part of a multi-disciplined team. The Estate are looking for an individual who has a good working knowledge of agriculture, land management and the management of a varied property portfolio.

There will be opportunity to drive smaller scale planning projects across the estate, for example in the conversion of traditional buildings to alternative uses.

With KPIs to meet the candidate should be analytical and detail focused with drive to make improvements and efficiencies. The candidate will take of budgetary responsibilities and reporting as part of the role.

This is a full-time, two-year fixed-term position.
