We are looking for an enthusiastic worker, who is keen to learn to join our family run farming business in Worcestershire.

The job will initially be offered on a short term basis of four months, but with the possibility of extending for the longer term. The position is full time, with possible overtime according to workload.

The all-round job involves tractor work on grassland and arable fields, cattle and sheep husbandry and some chainsaw work on a 900-acre farm. Appropriate qualifications are required.

Accommodation is not provided. The farm currently employs one full time worker with additional help from the owner and contractors.

Tractor Work

Help is required to maintain the pastures (fertiliser spreading and harrowing),
and make hay and wrapped silage. From August help is needed with lugging and tipping grain (oilseed rape, barley, wheat, oats and beans) and cultivating the ground with a Sumo and power harrow in preparation for drilling. Good tractor skills, including care of the equipment, are essential.

Cattle and Sheep Husbandry

In the summer months the 40 suckler cow herd plus calves and the 330 ewe flock plus lambs, need checking, moving from field to field, treating for worms and fly strike and tagging for market.

Chainsaw Work

The farm has a firewood business and when time allows, firewood from the woods and orchards is sawn and collected. Qualifications are necessary to complete this work, but applicants without such qualifications will also be considered.
