Description
How to Apply
The Thurlow Estate is a family-owned rural property business committed to delivering long-term economic, social, and environmental benefits for the Estate and the wider communities within which it operates.
Based in Suffolk, Essex and Cambridgeshire and centered around the villages of Little Thurlow and Great Thurlow, the Estate extends to approximately 15,500 acres. It includes an in-hand arable farm amounting to 11,900 acres, as well as 1,550 acres of let agricultural land, 1,500 acres of woodland, 192 houses, 6 let offices, 52 light industrial units, equestrian lets, a number of equestrian events, and an in-hand family shoot.
An opportunity has arisen for a capable, dynamic and enthusiastic placement student to join our dedicated in-house Estate Management team as Assistant Rural Surveyor for one year.
The role will be based at the Estate Office in Great Thurlow and will involve all aspects of running a progressive rural business with traditional values. Areas of experience will be varied, and include residential, commercial and agricultural property, forestry, building matters, insurance, health and safety, taking responsibility for the Estate Terrier system and providing support and expertise to the Estate Office around databases and mapping systems.
We are seeking an individual who is astute, pro-active and commercially minded with a keen interest in rural estate management. We have several ongoing projects which the successful candidate will be asked to take responsibility for and lead on. The successful candidate will therefore have an ambitious nature, show initiative and be keen to demonstrate their capabilities by fulfilling the lead role and providing sound professional advice when required. We are a small and dedicated team, and applicants should therefore have a strong desire to quickly become a core member of the in-house Estate Management team delivering a first-class service to the Family. Good communication, a keen eye for detail and a can-do attitude are also key.
We are a rural estate with an interest in traditional country pursuits and an interest in these would be beneficial.
Whilst this role is office-based, the nature of the work means site visits and attendance at meetings will be required, and the successful candidate will therefore need a full and clean UK driving license.
