How to Apply
The Farm
- Circa 570 cows achieving 13800 litres per cow (milk sold). Current milk solids of 1016kg Butterfat 3.98 Protein 3.26 Bactoscan 17 and SCC 97 with 4500 litres from forage.
- 250 head of youngstock, average age of calving 22 months.
- Preg rate, 28% cows, 36.8% maiden heifers, services per pregnancy, cows 2.48, heifers 1.94.
- Less than 6 cases of mastitis per 100 cows with no antibiotics at drying off
- 22:22 parlour with teat brush and ADF, milked x3 per day.
- Full TMR ration fed at the cubicle fence
- Indoor housed in excellent modern cubicles
The Role
This will be a concentrated role with focus on the milking herd and dry cows, working closely with the young herd manager and farmers.
- Milking as part of the team.
- Herd health, including vaccinations and immediate treatment of sick cows, cow monitoring and checks. Pre and Post calving checks.
- Assisting with record keeping and vet visists.
- Fertility including AI. Training can be provided.
- Working closely with the owners, vets, consultants and other farm staff on other aspects of the farm.
You must be enthusiastic, willing to work as part of a team and be extremely conscientious with excellent attention to detail.
