GrowUp’s mission is to grow delicious food that’s big on quality and low on impact. Our Controlled Environment Farms combine science and nature to create perfect environmental conditions. We don't compromise on quality, or how we treat people and the planet. Our customers share our belief that good food shouldn’t cost the earth.
We’re looking for the right person to be the on-site Co-ordinator of our small research team based on campus at Harper Adams University in our `Recipe Centre'. The research team is responsible for optimising our crop growing environment to reach yield potential without sacrificing crop quality.
The role will be centred around the implementation of our trial pipeline. We’re looking for someone with experience in applied horticultural R&D, who has managed a team and is a strong communicator.
You will work closely with our Head of Crop Optimisation and Grower Manager and will initially have 2 direct reports, although this will soon be increasing. On a day-to-day basis you will be responsible for ensuring that the Recipe Centre is operating successfully including monitoring to ensure compliance with our food safety management system, environmental management system (EMS) and Health & Safety (H&S) processes. You will manage all pre-trial preparation and in-trial activities and ensure that each phase of the R&D process is adequately resourced.
You will input into the analysis of trial data and play an active role in supporting the Head of Crop Optimisation with reporting and disseminating the trial results across the wider business. As a key member of the on-site team at the Recipe Centre you would also be expected to be a main point of contact with Harper Adams University for any collaborative research activities.
This is a hands-on role and we are looking for someone who is happy getting stuck in – whether that’s with data collection, cleaning or fixing a leak. Our ideal candidate is someone who wants to grow and develop with our business. You’ll bring new ideas to the table and contribute to our culture of open participation and knowledge sharing across the various teams in the business.
