Description

How to Apply

Required for an 800-acre arable and beef enterprise on a North Wiltshire Estate.

Due to management restructuring the above position has become available on a well-equipped mixed estate to start mid September 2021.

The candidate will be capable of undertaking all the operations for an arable rotation; from planting to harvest, grain storage management and being primarily responsible for crop establishment. They will also be required to manage the beef finishing unit and undertake grassland management.

Additionally, the candidate will be required to implement the Countryside Stewardship Mid-Tier scheme and assist the Farm Manager.

Main duties

The candidate will be directly responsible to the Farm Manager with whom they will liaise closely. The role will include a range of duties as expected of this position, but principally involves managing one employee in addition
to completing tasks on their own. Whilst the arable role is that of growing the crops, the candidate will be expected to take full responsibility for the management of the grain store, completing application records, including farm assurance, liaising with the Agronomist as well as monitoring and servicing the machinery. The Farm Manager will remain responsible for crop sales, invoicing and office duties.

The candidate will be required to undertake the management of stock at the beef fattening unit. Other duties will include the purchasing of direct cost supplies for both the arable and beef enterprises. The role will also include the maintenance of farm buildings, drainage, fencing, hedging, ditching, woodlands and wildlife conservation.
