How to Apply
Terra Nova is a pioneering specialist tech-enabled advisory firm delivering dynamic land strategy for the rural sector. We advise private landowners, estates, corporates and public bodies across three core disciplines:
• estate enterprise
• major infrastructure
• natural capital
Our work spans delivering strategy, negotiation, transaction brokerage, planning, audit and advisory – often on deals that do not fit neatly into any conventional rural consultancy category. We approach complex problems creatively, and we are looking for people who do the same.
The team combines over 25+ years of land expertise, and our work engages best-in-class collaborators across our fields of operation. We are a growing strategy consultancy, focused on optimising land. Those who join early will shape to shape the future of the business.
The role
The analyst role is the first stage in a strategic consultant’s career. It is a demanding job with opportunity for career progression where you will receive direct support from our senior consultants. This includes training, access to senior management and hands-on development from day one.
As an integral part of the team, Terra Nova’s analysts will be:
– working across a variety of live client assignments.
– carrying out rigorous quantitative and qualitative analysis of industry data, scenarios and land use across different areas of the country.
– conducting research to support and develop strategies for different client scenarios.
– synthesising a range of policy, market data and client context to provide actionable output for clients.
– working closely with the directors and managers to develop and refine strategic output for inclusion in final reports
– helping to develop strategies that genuinely move the needle for some of the UK’s most significant landowners and estates.
– Travelling across the country to engage with clients, land and projects first-hand.
What we’re looking for
We care more about how you think than where you went to university or what your degree says. Equally, a rural background is not required – but curiosity about the sector and a willingness to learn it quickly is. Here is what we need to see:
The essentials:
– Strong numeracy, written and verbal communication skills – you can distil complexity.
– Strong analytical and research skills; you can find what matters and say why it matters.
– Good workload management skills.
– Sharp attention to detail, combined with the ability to see the bigger picture.
– Proactive and independent – you won’t wait to be told when something needs doing.
– Competent across a range of software.
– Ability and willingness to learn quickly.
Genuine differentiators:
– Experience or strong interest in geospatial data, GIS, or land-related technology
– An interest in land, rural affairs, infrastructure, energy, policy, environment, land use pressures or natural capital
What you’ll get
We are committed to being the best consultancy to work for in the rural sector, and the quality of our work is achieved by having high quality individuals working for Terra Nova. As well as the benefits below, we aim to be flexible to the needs and personal circumstances of every single employee.
The main benefits we offer include:
– Early exposure to complex, high-value deals across land, infrastructure and natural capital
– Exposure to a variety of land use scenarios and concerns
– Direct access to senior leadership – this is a genuine learning environment
– A firm that’s growing, and a role that can grow with it
– MRICS training and support to qualification, if appropriate
– A salary of £27,000 – £30,000 depending on experience
– A generous bonus scheme
– 25 days holiday plus bank holidays
