How to Apply
About The Company:
Cotswold-based British Polo was founded in 2016 by Rich Hine. The company has since become established as one the UK’s leading producers of organic spirits, winning awards on both the national and international stage for their organic gins and rum. In 2018 their Organic Botanical Gin was voted best gin in the UK by The Guild of Fine Food. They product bespoke gins here at the RAU where they are the house pour at The Tithe.
Alongside making fantastic multi-award winning organic spirits (Great Taste 3 star), British Polo Gin is a leader in high quality and bespoke private, corporate and event hospitality. The company covers all facets of event management but focuses more specifically on event bar & catering, alongside offering event management solutions.
Their event hospitality side to the business has continued to grow, with 45% growth achieved for this calendar year already and with 300 successful days of event bars having been run. Highlights have included running bars at Big Festival, The Game Fair, The Cartier Queen’s Cup, Burghley, Osberton, Thoresby, Blenheim, Cirencester and Cornbury Horse Trials, alongside a large number of private and corporate bookings. More closer to home, they were the main bar provider for May Ball and Varsity 2025 and sponsor the RAU Polo Team
One of the core fundamentals to their business is offering a premium bar solution that is bespoke to each event, whilst still excelling in high volume situations. A core focus is working with leading British producers and making sure that our bars are always staffed by friendly and personable team members. Increasingly, brands are looking to align with us; supply partners for 2025 have included Chapel Down, Fever Tree, Dutch Barn Vokda, Kicking Goat Cider, The Lost Explorer, Pol Roger, LVMH and of course Hawkstone!
The company also founded (2022) and runs the successful Ruby’s Bar Events space, which is situated in Birdlip and is open of Friday to the public and on other days for private bookings.
The Role:
You would be supporting our event managers in bringing our event bars, catering and event management solutions to light at leading lifestyle and private events. The placement would start in mid May and ideally run through to the end of September/beginning of October. You would be paid hourly with between 20 and 30 hours worked on average per week. You would be welcome to join the team at Ruby’s in advance of starting your placement so that you can get up to speed with everything!
The role would entail travelling and nights away from home whilst running events – ie at music festivals and horse trials so having access to a car is essential. Owing to the demanding nature of event management successful applicants will need to bring a high EQ and have strong problem solving abilities.
To date, we have successfully run placements for RAU students in 2019 and 2024, with both students going on to accept management roles within our company.
